Capability Based
Horticulture Leadership Strategy
Project Overview
This is a much needed project. A recent research study from the University of Sydney shared that we are about to enter 10 years of unprecedented complexity for leaders. This means that new ways, models, tools and tactics are needed for those who step into leadership. This project is all about developing a shared strategy for the Australian horticulture sector to ensure strong leadership. We know strong leadership = strong industries
The key aim of this project which is managed and supported by Hort Innovation is to Develop a Capability Based Horticulture Leadership Strategy.
Some key questions this project is asking are;
- What key factors / trends will impact the horticulture industry requiring new /refreshed leadership capability into 2030+?
- What are the priority leadership capability areas/gaps and pathways towards industry leadership positions?
- How can horticulture future proof and create transformative and sustainable leadership into the future?
- How can the horticulture industry activate and fund leadership initiatives for cross industry benefit and return resulting in future proofing of industry leadership and industry leadership positions?
This project is not about compliance or human resource management but a strategy to drive cultural change through non-technical people / leadership focussed activities and investment.
The key project outcome is a practical strategy that can act as a guide for key stakeholders including individual, industries, primary industry bodies and the large number of industry groups across Australia as they lead workplans to support leadership development and sustainability.
A Project Reference Group is supporting, guiding, co-designing and providing industry truthing to ensure maximum outcomes are achieved during /post project.
